Who Is More Fascist? The Fascist? Or The Fascist Who Follows Him?
With apologies to George Lucas and Alec Guinness for mangling a memorable line from the first Star Wars film...and sympathy for the United States of America. Well, half of them at least.
Ha ha, thanks Anon, you're spot on! If I started a list of things I don't understand, I'd never get to finish it...!
Or... maybe I do and it was an attempt (albeit very clumsy) to play on words and describe the likes of Trump, Musk and Putin and their seeming mutual appreciation. Maybe being even more clumsy and using 'follow' in the context of social media. And, if I were stretching this to breaking point, 'more fascist' in the same redundant way as Nigel Tufnell's use of 'none more black' to describe an album cover in This Is Spinal Tap.
Or...maybe I was using the term fascist in it's slang definition. Forgive me for quoting Iffypedia, but "roughly speaking, something cruel, unscrupulous, arrogant, obscurantist, anti-liberal and anti-working-class" is a good fit for the Tangerine Nightmare, I think.
Or...maybe I watched The Young Ones back in the 1980s and followed Rik (with a silent p) with his frequent use of fascist. https://youtu.be/FaAJ1FlsEr0?si=cvhehKELyRiCZuNx
Or...maybe I'm a hack who wanted to shoehorn the Star Wars quote into a post title and in a split second decision, swapped 'fool' from the original with another F word (and there are many) that has been frequently applied to Trumpity Trump.
I'm comfortable with any of the above interpretations.
Spot on. He's applied to garish make up and frightful hairpiece. All we need to see now is the costume and ridiculously long shoes. The clown car with the bits that keep exploding and dropping off will be a metaphor, I think.
In the video for "Hey Fascist", there is an image of Trump taking Pennywise’s place in the sewers. Whoever had this idea, she (or he) nailed it. Both create the same kind of fear. [sk]
I reckon it's time to divide the US in half - let Trump and his followers live in one half and the sane people have the other half.
ReplyDeleteGive Trump a chance, Rol, he hasn't finished building the first wall yet! And which half...?
DeleteI don't think you understand the term "fascist".

Many thanks for taking the time to comment!
Depressing as fuck isn't it.
ReplyDeleteNot just that, but the sight of Bozo and Farage on the election overnights popping back up to the surface like floating turds. FFS.
DeleteTrump as a horror clown. That sums it up perfectly. [sk]

ReplyDeleteGreat, isn't it? Although Jabba The Hut from Star Wars most often springs to mind when I look at Trump.
