Cabaret Voltaire performed a five-song session for KEXP on 3rd May, posted earlier this week.
Sometimes I see a combination of words that seem almost inconceivable. Cabaret Voltaire? In 2026?! On KEXP?!!
Yet, it's real, it's here, and it's fantastic.
The post-session interview with Stephen Mallinder is also fascinating, the origins of Cabaret Voltaire, tributes to Richard H. Kirk and Chris Watson (the latter unable to join CV in the US), recreating songs from the vast catalogue with Benge aka Ben Edwards, and taking the music on the road one last time, with Eric Random and (for the US dates) Tara Busch.
I'll be discovering all this for myself in the autumn when I see Cabaret Voltaire at the Forum in Bath. In the meantime, this is 38 (and a half) minutes very well spent.
