The Divine Comedy with Invisible Thread, from upcoming album Rainy Sunday Afternoon, out on 19th September.
I woke up this morning, tired from lack of sleep, alerted to the cat being ambushed by another that seems to be staking out Casa K as a potential new home.
The early morning sunrises are now a thing of the past, the temperature's dropped several degrees, it's hammering with rain outside and I have a long commute via the M4 to the Forest of Dean.
On the plus side, I get the same twinge of joy crossing the Severn Bridge into Wales that I did as a child heading on family holidays to Pembrokeshire, the latter part of my commute will be through some spectacularly beautiful landscapes (even if it is raining) and Neil Hannon's delivered another beautiful song that feels like a warm hug from your best friend.
Oh, and the video features Ardal O'Hanlon.
Not so bad, after all, then.
Now there are two songs on the new album that nearly brought a tear to my eye. Whilst the video suggests the emotion of your child leaving home someone on youtube commented it's for everyone even if you don't have kids reminding you of the emotions your own parents went through and that's just as easily relatable. Couldn't afford the Bath show but really glad I can make the matinee performance at Rough Trade in 2 weeks..
