Why should fun wait until the weekend?!
Four videos that are bursting with fun, tight jeans, glow in the dark dresses, the spirit of Iggy, choppy 80s editing, one new/old classic Cope song and, if you stay to the end, a cool Breeze. Emily Breeze, that is.
1) Summer Fun: Barracudas (1980)
2) Big Fun: Inner City (1988)
3) Funtime (Cover of Iggy Pop): Boy George (1995)
4) Everybody Have Fun Tonight: Wang Chung (1986)
5) Well Hung At Dawn: Julian Cope (recorded 2005, released 2025)
6) Fun: Emily Breeze (2025)
I'm sorely tempted to adopt your post title as a mantra!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cheery start to the day - will have more of a listen later on but to start with Summer Fun is perfect.
Adopt away, C!
DeleteAnd I never tire of listening to the Barracudas song. Rarely a more apt song title.
I didn't know Boy George had covered Funtime. I'm going to see Iggy on Saturday night in Manchester and am getting quite excited about it
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things he's ever done, I think...and he rocked the shaven head look!
DeleteWow, Iggy! Have a great one tonight, Adam!
As C said, an inspired post title. I don't remember George ever looking like that (minus a hat) and don't remember the song. Enjoyed revisiting Inner City - who wouldn't want to have Big Fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alyson. George's aerodynamic look was very short-lived, possibly a one-off for this video as I think he was wearing a wig for the record sleeve and the customary hat was present and correct for the accompanying album.
DeleteAs for Inner City, a guaranteed floor filler at the time. I have danced to this song in many different settings over the years and it's always delivered on the title's promise!
