Prime Or Slime? You Choose!

Spotted in the window of a WH Smith on my travels around Gloucestershire.

Now, you may like Prime and you may like Slime. But which is best?

Only one way to find out...

No, not that!

Representing Estonia is Rashida Prime, the alias of Joonas Arro, whose music is (self) described as "A compilation of works from the eternal void." Or, lush, ambient sonic soundscapes if 2022 album Chroma is anything to go by.

I've picked Mistakes With Magnitude, mainly because there was an accompanying video on YouTube, but you can listen to/buy the complete album (and more) on Bandcamp.

Coming in strong from Scotland is Slime City, "who play fast existentialist nerd rock for people who like sighing but also fighting."

Here's the brilliantly titled Algorithim Is A Dancer from last year's Death Club album.

Death Club is also available digitally on Bandcamp, cunningly priced at £20.00, with a link to Last Night From Glasgow, where you can buy the CD or digital "at a human price" which is much more reasonable.

I received the album on splatter vinyl (now sold out) in 2023 as part of my LNFG membership. It's not an album I return to very much, to be honest, but it's fun in small doses.

The LNFG membership is excellent value for money, however, and I've just renewed for the third consecutive year. And I've never been to Glasgow! One day...

As you may have gathered from the start, sometimes these posts are very much a case of a photo in search of a story...

And isn't that one of the most depressingly drab shop window dressings ever...?

  1. Quite the choice. From the shop window I choose neither. From the music I think Slime edges it

    1. Thanks, Adam. I think the shop window succinctly summarises the decline of WH Smith on the high street since our childhood.

  2. Slime City are great fun! The solo stuff from front man Michael M is also worth a bit of your time.
