Irie Irie

Confidence Man, coming on like it's 1991 with new single and video Real Move Touch, featuring Sweetie Irie.

Back in the actual 1991, Sweetie Irie was at it again for the first time (?), side by side with Green Gartside on Scritti Politti's dancehall cover of Gladys Knight & The Pips' 1967 classic Take Me In Your Arms And Love Me.

Sweetie Irie (Dean Bent to his mum) has been in demand throughout his career, working with everyone from Aswad to Ed Case to Gorillaz to Ian Brown to No Doubt to Roni Size.

Confidence Man chose wisely.

    1. I think Confidence Man may be disappointed that my post shifted the focus from them and their new single to their guest star though! I like the single a lot but come on, it's Sweetie Irie!

  2. Good to know Sweetie is still going. I must dig out my copy of 'Leggings' by him and Frankie Paul. Not for the A side which is as naff as the fashion item they sing about, but the excellent B Side 'Hot Bubblers' which is Sweetie sampling Rose Royce's 'Ooh Boy'

    1. I've just had the dubious pleasure of listening to Leggings on YouTube and I would agree with your assessment, Ernie. I couldn't find Hot Bubblers - you seem to have been the only one to post about the song in the past decade or so! - but it's pointed me to Irie's 1991 album DJ Of The Future, so I may have check it out. Thanks!
