After yesterday's unintentionally downbeat post, here's something more uplifting from Faze Action and frequent collaborator Zeke Manyika. Zeke has appeared on this blog several times already, as a member of Orange Juice and The The, and has also recorded solo.
Faze Action comprises brothers Robin Lee and Simon Lee and Zeke Manyika has appeared on and off on their albums and singles since 1998. Rwendo initially appeared as a B-side on their Sununguka single in April 2020 and I'll confess that it completely passed me by. Judging by the number of YouTube views at the time of this post (643!), it seems many others missed it too.
The good news is that Rwendo and 14 other Balearic gems have been collected on Faze Action present the Balearic Sounds of FAR and made more widely available to the world as a digital or lovely vinyl album. You get a lot of Zeke for your buck as he appears on five tracks in total: Chiiko, Mangwana, Hapana, Sununguka and Rwendo. Bandcamp Friday is coming up and this compilation is an easy way to bring some summer vibes back in to dispel the autumnal gloom.
