Many happy returns to Ron Mael, born 12th August 1945.

In keeping with recent birthday celebration posts, here's a selection of videos spanning the last half century, mostly in sequential order, but including a few film, TV and stage appearances. A variety show, if you will. You will be entertained.

This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us (Disco w/ Ilja Richter, ZDF TV, Germany) (28th September 1974)
Something For The Girl With Everything (TopPop, AVRO TV, Netherlands) (21st February 1975)
Cool Places: Sparks ft. Jane Wiedlin (1983)
Singing In The Shower: Les Rita Mitsouko & Sparks (1988)
Piss Off: FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks) (2015)
Tiny Desk Concert (4 songs) (Live @ NPR Music, Washington DC, USA) (18th July 2023)
Never Mind The Buzzcocks (Series 12, Episode 11) (17th March 2003)

  1. Another great collection that entertained me very well. Sparks were one of those band that was all around during my musical education and they can't do anything wrong.

    1. I confess, I am completely biased when it comes to the Mael Brothers. Musically, they can do no wrong.

  2. I'd forgotten about "Something for the girl......." and what a bloody brilliant video.

  3. Went to see FFS at Glasgow Barrowlands when the album was being promoted. A never-to-be-forgotten night. The set list tells you all you need to know.
