Play Me, Play Me

To nick an old Smash Hits format, Hifi Sean and David McAlmont are back! Back!! BACK!!! with Sad Banger, which is absolutely on-the-nose as far as song titles are concerned. Three minutes (give or take) of pop perfection.

As if that weren't good enough news, it's the precursor to second album, Daylight, due 20th June and featuring 12  brand new songs, with Sad Banger placed at #7 and presumably the opening track of Side 2. Those lucky enough to have caught HifiSean and David McAlmont live in concert earlier this year will have got a sneak preview of some of these songs.

And as if that weren't good enough news, this will be the first of two albums to be released in 2024. As Daylight "celebrates, expresses and explores the colours and feel of summer," third album Twilight will be a nocturnal companion to our journey into winter, out on 1st December.

Given that the duo's debut Happy Ending was my album of the year when Last Night From Glasgow released the double vinyl to members in 2022 and again when it was released globally in 2023, you'll have a sense of how happy this announcement made me on Wednesday.

You can purchase or stream Sad Banger now and pre-order Daylight on physical and digital formats via Plastique Recordings.
